I’m Matt, a landscape photographer based in Hampshire, UK.

And here’s a little bit about me…

I’ve been passionate about photography for the last 5 years or so after two months studying abroad, where I had the chance to travel to stunning places throughout Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia and take photos using the trusty (but pretty rubbish) camera on my phone. Although the photos weren’t great, they’ve always been something to go back to, to remind myself of past experiences and places I’ve been. For me, photography is all about capturing the beauty, mood and feelings you get from being out in the world. Whether it’s the red sky and calmness of a sunset on the beach, or the noise and power of a thundering waterfall, I love being able to take a little snapshot home with me.

Since catching the photography bug I’ve been trying to absorb as much knowledge as I could to improve my skills, and wanted to use this site to share some of that with you. I found it very overwhelming in the beginning as it feels like there’s a crazy amount to understand and remember. I remember taking my DSLR out the day I bought it, expecting to take amazing photos now I finally had a reasonable camera. Turns out, you can still take some awful photos even with a half-decent camera! Through all sorts of books, websites and Youtube tutorials I’ve been trying to learn the underlying principles of photography and different techniques to try and get the best photos possible, and my photos have certainly come a long way since I first started. I wanted to share my journey and improvement with you, and through that hopefully help you improve too!
